"I'm happy in London," Shevchenko told the News of the World. "Give me time and next season you will see the real Shevchenko.

"I like playing with Didier and believe we can be the most effective partnership in the Premiership.

"I have needed some time to acclimatise to England but, given the chance, I can show the supporters the real me.

"I knew it would be difficult to adapt to Chelsea. It's a new club, a new life and it's been a difficult season.

"But I just wish people would give me the time to acclimatise and to get used to it all - then you will see."

According to Inter Milan, Crespo has renewed his loan deal for another year.

The Nerazzuri's website stated: "FC Internazionale have received a fax from Chelsea stating that Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo is free to remain with the Nerazzurri for the second season of his two-year loan deal" .

Crespo told the official Inter website: "I am very happy. Staying at Inter was what I wanted.

"I would like to thank Chelsea first of all for their help, and Inter for confirming their faith in me."

In an interview to a Russian radio station, Roman Abramovich stated the following, when confronted with a question regarding speculation in the media that he may have lost interest in Chelsea Football Club.

"This is absolute nonsense. Everything will remain the same. My relationship with Chelsea has not changed and I wouldn't want to change anything,"

Chelsea are made to work hard for it, but eventually clinch the tie and the trophy in extra-time against a resolute Manchester United side, thanks to Drogba's wonderful close-range effort from Lampard's assist, after a cagey and fruitless 90 minutes of normal time had elapsed, pushing the game into extra time. Chelsea now complete a domestic double of the League Cup and the FA Cup. Not a bad season at all, especially when coupled with 2nd place in the League and European Cup Semifinals. Well done lads!
